These joints carry loads throughout the service life of the rack, so the type of fastener, property class and corrosion protection should follow the racking manufacturer’s documentation. Hexagon head bolts are most often used to join frames and bracing. Flange bolts and nuts spread the clamping load over a larger area and often replace a separate washer, while lock nuts limit loosening of joints exposed to vibration – for example from forklift traffic.
